About

A little about Sam

A husband, father and woodsman, offering nature-based mentoring, coaching and immersive outdoor experiences across Bedfordshire, Sussex and beyond.

I have spent my life in the outdoors, from childhood onwards. In my early twenties I came through a serious mental health crisis, and I went on to spend twenty years working in health and social care. In time that work brought me to burnout.

Returning to the woods is what brought me back to myself. I came to see that the burnout was really an opportunity: a chance to find some balance within myself, and to stop living by rules that were never mine to begin with. This work grew out of that, a way of doing something meaningful that is genuinely aligned with what I value.

What I offer draws on a lifetime outdoors, mentoring and coaching, and a mindful reconnection with nature. It is a holistic way of finding balance and moving towards a fuller life. I work with people who feel called to reconnect with nature, because I believe that, moving in nature, we can rediscover the truth we already know but may have quietly silenced, thinking it impractical or out of reach.

When I am not in the woods by a fire, you will usually find me reading, drinking rather a lot of tea and coffee, writing on Substack, or spending time with my family.
